Information•News•Statistics•History and More!

The city of Eagle Rock derived its name from the distinctive sandstone rock formation on which the Indians bestowed the title, "Eagle Rock."  The air was clean and the ground gave up a plentiful supply of pure, clean water.  Farming and planting became a part of early day living in the Eagle Rock area yielding such crops as strawberries & orchards.  The first school was established in 1884 and had an enrollment of 17 students.  Eagle Rock incorporated itself as a city in 1911 & was annexed to the city of Los Angeles in 1923. Today, Eagle Rock has the benefits of a city with a suburban & community feel to it.  It is home to such places as, Occidental College & the Eagle Rock Plaza.
